The group of journalists, most notably the Washington Post, Jamal Khashoggi, will cover the cover of the next issue of Time Magazine after the editors of the magazine decided that they came to represent 2018 more than any other individual or group of sacrifices. They made the “war on truth” on Time Person of the Year 2018 list.
“This year we recognize four journalists and one news organization who have paid a heavy price to take advantage of the challenge at this moment: Jamal Khashoggi, Maria Risa, Luna Lun and Kyo Su Oo, and Capital Island Book in Annapolis, Maryland.” President Edward Wiesenthal explained in an editorial recently.
Mr. Khashoggi was killed at the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul, Turkey, on 2 October after being tortured. The reporter was a prominent critic of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman as Time Person of the Year 2018 list.
The magazine has carried out the tradition since 1927 and last year another group was selected. Those who reported sexual harassment in the workplace as part of the #MeToo movement following the Harvey Feinstein scandal.
The time has been a tribute to breaking the silence, “to give voice to open secrets, to move whisper networks on social networks, to push us all to stop unacceptable acceptance.”
