A senior leader of the Iranian-backed Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement was killed on Tuesday in the Gaza Strip. A separate rocket attack hit the home of an Islamic Jihad official in Damascus, killing two people, one of his sons, state media said as Gaza Attack.
Shortly after Tuesday morning’s attack that killed Bahaa Abu al-Ata and his wife, rockets were fired from Palestinian groups in the besieged Gaza Strip into Israel.
In response to the barrage of rockets, dozens of air strikes were launched into Gaza. In all, 12 Palestinians were killed in the Israeli bombardment of Gaza, according to health officials in Gaza Attack.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the tender was “the main terrorist instigator in the Gaza Strip.”

“All the terrorists are thinking alike. They think they can harm civilians and hide behind civilians. We have proved that we can strike surgically with precision,” he said.
Islamic Jihad is an Iranian-backed group that often carries out attacks independent of Hamas, a much larger armed group that controls Gaza Attacks.
